Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR) is part of Wageningen University and Research (WUR), operating under the Animal Sciences Group (ASG) within the research division of WUR.

Ensuring Animal Health

Ensuring Animal Health DCO comprises multiple specialized teams, including the BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) team. Chris Overbeek, Test Specialist at DCO comments: “The team is dedicated to testing approximately 60,000 cattle and small ruminants annually for the presence of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) such as BSE and scrapie, in compliance with European mandatory monitoring protocols”.

To maintain the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency, the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) integrates Micronic solutions for sample tracking and traceability.
