FAQ: Labware - Tubes

Hybrid tube

The Answer
The Micronic hybrid tubes are tubes with two white side walls enabling 4 coding concepts. Samples can be identified with the 2D Data-Matrix, 1D barcode, numeric human readable code and by written codes on the white surface of the tube. The high contrast 2D and human-readable codes are permanently laser-etched into the white surfaces, so that they can never wear or fall off. The transparent part of the tube walls enable easy visual checking of the sample, while the different coding guarantees sample traceability.

The Alphanumeric code corresponds with the position of the tube in the rack (e.g. A1). The code is therefore unique per rack. A 1D Barcode is the standard 'barcode' (type 128B). With a standard barcode the data that is stored can only be numerical (i.e. a series of numbers). The 2D Data-Matrix is an open 2D code and is laser-etched on the bottom of the tube. Both the 1D barcode and 2D Data-Matrix code can be customized.
