FAQ: Labware - Tubes

Working volume tube

The Answer
Yes, the name of the tube refers to the gross volume of the tube. The working volume (net volume) depends on the temperature in which the sample is stored in, the cap type that is used to seal the tubes with and the inside bottom of the tube. The working volumes of tubes at ambient temperature are stated on the specific product pages on the website. Are you storing your samples in -80°C or even colder, you can ask one of our sales representatives what the working volume is.
